Flip Flop-er

Here is the thing about modern politics. It is not really what your stances are so much as how many people you can confuse into voting for you. The more accusations you make the more likely they will stick regardless of the truth.

Accusations of flip-floping have be come highly popular for this purposes since Kerry got worked over last election. Now calling someone a flip floper is one of the most damaging/unhelpful/miss leading things you can do to get your self elected.

The worst part of this trend is the unwashed masses who perpetrate these myths. I believe these stories get momentum because A) they are easy to say over again and B) because it makes the person speaking sound like a hard boiled journalist that has the drop on everyone else.

Let me clear this up for you. Obama is not a flip floper. Obama is a member of the senate, which inherently means that you are going to vote for things you dont like. In addition to that you will also be asked to make deals with people you dont like. All of this coupled with his current attempts to move to the middle and refine his past positions makes him a smart politician, not a flip floper.

Think it through people. issues, not sound bites.
