Thursdays are for finding old friends
When I was young my mother played a lot of Motown. Were talking a lot, like more then a white girl from California should.
Beacuse of this I developed a pretty fluid knowledge of the Detroit scene circa 1976, and still have a love of it to this day.
So for this Thursday's post I will point your attention to an often unheard tribute album that has some of Motown's biggest artists paying homage to the Beatles.
Some of the tributes are a bit odd, if not interesting on paper. Im sure that "The fool on the Hill" done by the Four Tops sounded like a great idea, but in action is becomes some sort of weird herky jerky event. Despite these semi-misses there are still some great tracks in here, like Marvin Gaye doing "Yesterday" and "Let it Be" done over by Gladys Night & the Pips. Really in the end its just and interesting thing to have on your hard drive.
All these tracks came from the now defunct Ape Shall Never Kill Ape and though he is taking a break from this whole thing I owe him much for all the rare old school stuff he passed me.

Thanks for the honorable mention. I am now back to semi-regular posting and am glad to see that there are still great places sharing great music like yours.
