Medicare in america = shit

A new set of rules for Medicare was put out by the Bush administration which now says that you can not get coverage for "a condition that could reasonably have been prevented." This means that if you got a post op-infection from a doctor leaving a sponge in you...your not going to get covered.

As dumb as that sounds other conditions like bedsores and even simple falls could be taken out of the coverage plan.

Apparently this new plan will save Medicare about $20 million a year, and is supposed to force hospitals to take better care of their patients instead of expecting the government to foot the bill when mistakes are made.

Only problem with that is the patient is now pretty much left to fend for themselves when it comes to malpractice costs. Which sucks.

While I have to say I like where their head is at for the most part, I would love for this statement to come with an attachment that says, "We are finding ways to save money because of a very expensive war that has no end in sight." I think that little note would help us understand where this is coming from.

For now, make sure you stay healthy. Oh...and don't fall...
