Two greeley bloggers present: The Empty Pilot and friends!

Me and luke are putting on a show up in Greeley in the comming weeks so i thought i would give this little prep. Look for posts on the bands when my computer gets up again.

It’s the Empty Pilot’s triumphant return to the Greeley scene! Also performing is Milton Melvin Croissant III, a Folk Rock/Psychedelic act that will hypnotize and enthrall. Plus Lil’ slugger (posing as Lil' Slugger's Rabbit Fighter), the band that has everyone dancing and everyone searching for a description.

So come down to Istanbul Hookah-Parlor and watch these cats perform free of charge!

"You're beautiful, like a May fly."-Hemingway

Did you know he lived his life thinking that he could never get out of the shadow of Tolstoy? I think that is a very important part of someones character...who they admire. It tells you so much in so few words.

Jawbreaker-thursdays are for finding old friends

I'm a fan boy.

For kids who care about lyrics and DIY ethics, there is no band more influential and interesting then Jawbreaker. They paved the way for today's bands in more ways then I care to list and as Jessey Lacey said once:

"If your not listening to them, you should be. Because everyone you listen to listed to them."

While they are not together their albums are still some of the most unique and relevant and Dear You is one of my all time favorites. If you don't know the material, drop what you are doing and go buy an LP.

The sleeper makes a shot

I was more then a little happy when I heard that Edwards had edged out Hillary. It gave me some validation and suddenly this is the three way race the Clinton camp wanted to avoid.

By my count Hillary is in a world of hurt. She has made far more money then any other candidate (from either party) and has far more political support (her husband is doing more then any former president has ever done) and she still managed to finish in the rear.

I know Iowa wasn't a good state for her to start with but If Obama can clean up, there is no reason she should finish almost out of the money like that.

Anyways, I think my boy Edwards still has a good chance, far more democrats came out to vote and Obama made history, so it was a good day all around.

kimya dawson's music is the soul of "Juno"

Just got back from a screening of Juno and I was quite pleased to hear Kimya Dawson's music as the soundtrack to the film.

Her soft anti folk was a delightful accompaniment to the movie, and the fact that she recently had a babe only added to my enjoyment. Going in I was afraid they only used her song for the trailer, but a good 5-6 songs are featured in various states.

Aside from the music, I thought the film was brilliantly acted and had a great script. I was genuinely touched at the end of the film and glad that I did not know to much going in. The direction was nothing to write home about but I was thoroughly entertained and I feel like this movie will compete for attention come award season.
