I need someone to protect me from those who are trying to protect me against my will

I don't know if you know this, but Banksy rocks so hard. You don't even know.

If you don't know who he is you may know him from here, here here or the many other places you can see his work. And, while he is anonymous to this day there is a rabid fan base that hangs on his every word.

Recently I was alerted to a video where another one of my favorite street artists was featured and he happened to mention Banksy. Its an older video but i love it.

Ill be mentioning Banksy and Fairey a lot because well...I'm such a fan. So excuse my over hyping of their littlest moves. I'm going through some stuff right now so if the posts are spotty please forgive me.

"Writing graffiti is about the most honest way you can be an artist. It takes no money to do it, you don't need an education to understand it and there's no admission fee."~~Banksy

And now a completely random track from Chris Rock because i spent the morning watching "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back"

Bayside- New album

Well their new album leaked so and its so accessible on the Internet im surprised its not for sale someplace.

That being said its a pretty good album, though it has a bit more bite to it then their previous attempts. While it is more up beat the haunting lyrics still remain and there is quite a bit of commentary on girls in his life.

If you try hard enough you can find the leak, or for those in the know you can just go to where the new fall out boy got lose in one of the posts bellow this. In the mean time here is a track...

Miss Violetta Beauregarde

Today we will play a game called, "I found this at the Radio Station and you probably will be very confused when u listen."

Doesn't sound fun?

Well i dont care.

Moving right along, this beautiful lass to my left is miss Violetta Beauregarde and she makes sounds that is little heard anywhere much less in the main stream music world. She is most notable for her live shows (where lambs heads have been thrown into the audience) and her photo shoot for suicide girls hot pics NSFW (she was the first Italian model to do so).

Her music is unlike anything i have ever heard or will ever hear, and it arrived in the radio station mail box a few weeks ago. I was drawn in by the song titles including "Adolf Hitlers Emotional Side" and "I'm wolverine and you're walrus and I'm kicking your ass" which are insightful and creative. The music is alternating languages and could be called Techno-screemo-art house.

Say anything

Say Anything means a lot to me.

I admit that i was sceptical, but from the first line of "woe" i was hooked. Since then i have spent a lot of time admiring the lyrics and craft of this band that plays like they have been together for years. After all it takes a certain kind of band to write a love song about the Holocaust.
They were recently on tour with Mewithoutyou, and before that they were on the road with Dashboard Confessional.

They have a new album coming soon which will be called "In Defense of the Genre". The producer is the same guy who did albums for The Foo Fighters, Sunny Day Real Estate, and the Smashing Pumpkins to name a few. Apparently it will be a story album just like "...is a real boy"

If you are a fan of Fall Out Boy, The Smiths, or The Get Up Kids you need to get this stuff. Here are three acoustic tracks they did MTV.

In other news Fall Out Boy Leaked, there are lots and lots of places to get it. I like what i have heard so far. Also if you have time u should head over to my friends blog, he has a full Smoking Popes album up for yall..

This is the end.....

I don’t know what the world is coming to but apparently our right as citizens to a fair trial is about to be removed. Take a look at what the ATTOURNEY GENERAL of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA said about the right to Habeas Corpus:

"There is no expressed grant of habeas in the Constitution; there's a prohibition against taking it away," Gonzales explained. He argued that the Constitution doesn't explicitly bestow habeas corpus rights; it merely says when the so-called Great Writ can be suspended.

According to Gonzales' convoluted understanding of Habeas Corpus, many of the basic precepts granted in our Bill of Rights and in the Constitution are all but moot and toothless statutes. With his radical re-evaluation of the Constitution, Americans need to be aware that we would no longer have a document that can provide the rule of law for this nation.

The unmitigated arrogance of the Attorney General to use this bizarre and quibbling interpretation of our constitution is incorrigible -- certainly a precursor of a bizarre defense for the Bush-Cheney administration's policies, which clearly abuse the rights of alleged terrorist detainees, their torture, and their right to fair trials.
(The preceding two Paragraphs are from a user on a msg board but I wholeheartedly agree)

Everyone should read this note, and everyone should pass it on. Read the story and don’t let them take away our rights.

The Game and Travis Barker

My top 3 Blink-182 members are in this order: 1. Travis 2.Tom 3. Mark.

Growing up in Northern California in the 90's you were nobody if you didn't listen to Green day, Blink-182 or Tiger army. Those bands left a lasting impression on my music tastes that lingers still.

When I saw that Travis had hooked up with The Game (AKA the guy who did "200 bars" and slammed 50cent) I had a feeling it was going to be sick. What is even sicker about theses tracks is the fact that Travis did it with one arm, because he was still healing from the break he got while filming the (+44) album. Take a peek and if u like u can buy the full set on I-tunes.

Art Shit~~~~Now known as Kid Candy

After a recent visit to Cursive's myspace page I found a profile that caught my eye. It turned out to be an artist who is about to start his own clothing line and sells his work from time to time. After browsing his work I was quite interested and have been waiting for T shirts for some time. To see more, go to his http://www.myspace.com/artgarbage.

Anti-Flag

Anti-flag have been one of the most committed and original bands in the punk world for longer then i care to recal. Some how they have managed to stay relevent and intresting.

One of my favorite things about Anti-Flag is their commitment to social awarness, and their on going attempt to bring people to relevent causes. They are involved with many groups like punkvoter.org, Shirts for a Cure and the millitary free zone.org to name a few. Recently Anti-flag gave a rare B side to the millitary free zone to promote the site. I have put it bellow but feel free to get it from the site if you like.

If you have never visited the Shirts for a Cure site its deffinitly one of the best things you can do with your merch money. Anti- flag is involved but there are many many other bands for you to look at. Enjoy the old and new Anti-Flag.

iForward Russia!

iForward Russia! is what happens when the Strokes met UnderOath. Im still not sure that's the best way to describe them, but it seems to work.

Couple things: Yes, there name is supposed to have those "I!" infront and back. No they are not from Russia, and Yes they have a pretty sick girl drummer, thats pretty easy on the eyes.

iForward Russia! is part of a movement in England known as "New York Shit." Bands under this heading include but are not limited to: The Arctic Monkeys, The Horrors, and Lilly Allen. These bands draw heavily from Indy bands in New York like Interpol, The Strokes and The Hives and the garage rock movement in America on the whole. Their sound is the New York sound Choped and screwed.

Right now Forward Russia is on an American tour but to very select towns not including Colorado (your shocked im sure). If they are comming to your town you should go, because like the Horrors, their live sets are the best part .

Immigrant Punk

"You got a dictionary kicking around? Look up the Immigrant Immigrant Immigrant punk."
~Gogol bordello

I was first introduced to Gogol through the Warped Tour Compilation and their single "Start wearing Purple" which caught my attention almost instantly.

I can only describe them as the Clash meets the Eastern Block and Joe Strummer walks out with a black eye. Most people are drawn to the band because of the rapid fire delivery and steady rhythms. Its old school punk with instruments that may raise a few eyebrows.

What has really put Gogol on the map of late is their famous live shows which are said to strike fear into any man's heart. They have been on tour with everyone from Bedouin Sound Clash to Valient Thorr and seem to generate excitement where ever they go, they were even featured on last years Reading Festival. Listen to these and tell me what Immigrant punk is...

More Snow

Well the City of Denver looks like its going to be in a world of pain once again as another god dam snow storm is on the way. Despite what they would have you believe the worst storm in Denver happened in 1913, and apparently the town just keep working....except for this car. The driver of this car is the great great ancestor of those rare Coloradoans that think they can drive in any whether, but then when they get out they smash into the little old lady in her Cadillac who cant drive in the snow but needed cat food for Mr.Jinggels.

My favorite thing to do when it snows is sit around and listen to Stand up comedy. Recently I discovered A guy named Demetri Martin who has to be one of the best young voices I have heard in a long time.

If that name sounds familiar its because he is currently working at The Daily Show as the "Trend Spotter." He has done a few things for comedy Central and is a past writer for the Connan O'Brien show. His act includes Traditional stand up, music numbers and props, this plus his very dry whit make him the heir apparent to the late Mitch Headberg. These samples come off his album, "These are Jokes" and I think they show off his talents quite well.

The Empty Pilot And Whelk

Local Band Spot Light
Whelk- Greeley, Colorado

"Whelk is what happens when 3 men who are sick and tired of the same old rock that you hear everyday start playing something different, something refined. What you get is rocking drums, mixed with polished guitar and classically modern piano."

I first met the fellas from Whelk when I began my work at Northern Colorado's school radio station. In addition to making some real sweet music in the vain of Interpol, Mars Volta and Radio Head, they are some of the nicest guys you will ever meet. The boys just went into the studio to make some new demos and their sound is changing for the better to my ever untrained ear.

Check out their myspace and purevolume for a sample or listen to Our Pilot sings a Requiem.mp3 which you can download at their sites along with many
other songs.

The Empty Pilot
Greeley Colorado

The Empty Pilot is Chris Jones and he dosen't like the Bright eyes comparisons.

You can see where such a comparison could come from but there is a lot more to his music then the acoustic guitar and lofty lyrics. Brought up in the school of Blink 182 and Midtown, Chris plays the guitar harder then i have ever seen anyone attempt with an acoustic instrument. This mindset along with a keen mind for imagery creates some of the best (and most undescribable) music in the Greeley scene. If you are into Park, Cursive or Alkaline Trio but secretly have an extensive Dashboard Confeshional collection, this is for you.

Visit the myspace here

The Arcade Fire

The Arcade Fire first caught my eye not because of their sound but for their videos. all of which were quite unique and still blow my mind every time i see them.

The new album "Neonbible" is set to hit in March and is getting a lot of attention from everyone includeing NME and the blog world.

This wierd video is helping fule the flames along with the site that seemes to be set up soley to boggel pot heads minds Neonbible. Weather you belive the hype or not you have to give it to those kids for keeping it fresh. Now keep your fingers crossed for a sick tour.

The one and only NOFX

NOFX has been a band since 1983 which was 3 years befor i was even boorn. As scary as that is, i still say they are one of the most intresting and relevent bands today.

In addition to the fine records they put out, Fat mikes lable "fat wreck chords" has put albums out for bands like:
Rise Against
Anti-Flag
Less then Jake
MxPx
Love Equals Death
Against me!

Fans will tell you that the only way to expericance the band is to see them live. I whole heartedly agree. But if you cant do that you could always just listen to this live set at Warped tour...

NOFX live at Warped.rar

Tour dates are here http://www.nofxofficialwebsite.com/tour/tour.php3
but if you dont live in CA your out of luck for a bit.

The Horrors

Hailing from the sunny shores of England these guys have made a bit a mark for them selves with their pattened live shows and remarkably odd sound which i my self can not classify.

Something along the lines of punk...but then it would have to be punk like Joy Divishion does it right?
