Long weekend

Hope everyone is having a safe and fun memorial day. I thought this would be a good opportunity to remind you not to be arrogant with your patriotism, and to refresh your memory about the cost of one man's war. Make sure you hug a vet and dont over cook those hot dogs.

God dam it

The Democrats caved in a gave W a bill with no time lines. I feel like the end of the word is coming soon...I hope it goes quick.

My only solace is, the Dems telling everyone they will have other chances to stick it to him and that this is small in the big picture of things. But I can only think that they had him on the deck, and instead of sending the same bill he vetoed back to him, they gave him a hand up and let the people think he can push congress around. I just cant believe that the wage increases is worth the cost of life we lose daily in Iraq. They should have hounded him, and ended the war right now...its what the people want, and for them to let this one man war continue is criminal.

We voted these people in for change, not to just watch him gear up for a new war with Iran and write him a blank check for Iraq. Now we have to watch a weeks worth of coverage as the Republicans lay in to the Dem's presidential candidates for their votes against the thing.

Sorry Everybody

I forgot how cool this site really is. Though from the looks of it, things have died down since the election. Anyways, I still get quite a laugh looking at some of the things that people write, and it makes me feel good that I am not alone in my disappointment over the last presidential elections.

But what i especially like is the idea behind it. In the FAQ section they specifically say they that this is not a Bush bashing site, but is instead an outlet for global communication.

Lots of fuss is made about the “global village.” The Internet was supposed to make communication between cultures, countries and peoples painless and easy. It was supposed to build bridges. But it doesn't do this automatically; somebody has to reach out. The Internet was supposed to lead to education and understanding. It doesn't. Rarely do people on the Internet apologize. I thought it was high time. The world needs to understand that there are people in America who don't like what our government is doing. And from the mail we're receiving, there are people in the international community who appreciate this.
Also, come on, it's kind of amusing.

If you don't mind a walk down memory lane I suggest you go check it out, it's a nice time waster along the lines of postsecret and there can't be much better to do if you are reading my blog.

Thursdays are for finding old friends: Pedro the Lion

The Seattle scene kicks your scene's ass.

no...really they do.
Think about the great names coming out of there and the surrounding states/areas in recent years:Death Cab, Thermals, Decemberists, Sleater-Kinney, Wolf Parade, Blood Brothers, Modest Mouse, and Pedro the Lion.

Out of those bands and the merrid of others, Pedro the Lion has had the weirdest effect on my me. Something about the haunting voice of David and the double meanings of his words drew me right in to their work. And the fact that some of my friends considered them a religious band...made them all the more entertaining.

Few artists are able to do that to me. And fewer still leave me wanting more. While they do have religious undertones, it is more about the struggle Bazan faces when he truly considers his religion and what it means to everything else in his life. Some how it is both hopeful and bleak.

One of my favorite releases is the tour EP which contains some pretty chill covers. Im going to let you guys get that all right here.
Political Science.mp3 - Randy Newman Cover
Metal Heart.mp3 - Cat Power
Let Down.mp3 - Radio Head
For fans of Death Cab, Heavens, and Modest Mouse

If that isnt enough you David is going out on tour after he finished up with Ben Gibbard. This will conincide with his new solo deal, which sounds pretty chill. On top of that his solo EP is going to be re-done and passed out widly, for all to enjoy. I need me some of that...

The set list is quite nice, I like him mixing it up. I could not have drawn a better one up, and i am only sorry that i did not get to see it in person. But its weird, because this is not very comparable to the other sets from him I have. Indeed, I have never heard him preform most of these songs solo. The other sets I have were composed of covers and rarities that Death Cab often sets aside. Ahh well...the Nirvana at the end really sells it.

Hopefully someone will get this down and actually break it up cuz the hour long block is not doing it for me right now.
A short but beautiful show as the host says...

Snap....

Taking Back Sunday, My Chemical Romance and Saosin will be on tour with Linkin park this summer and not on the warped tour as i had hoped.

Great....
I hope the warped tour crew is happy with their very bland lineup. They better get Fall Out Boy/+44 and a huge punk name else we may see a very lame tour with a low turn out.

Linkin park steals shit

The new Linkin Park video is a complete rip off of 3 bands in my opinion. It takes heavily from a few Incubus videos, Taking back Sunday's "Make Damn Sure", and "Ready to Fall" by Rise against. Watch those 3 videos and tell me you don't see any similarity's both in editing and content.

On top of this minor rip off, they put out and album that sounds nothing like their last stuff. Now im all for change in sound, but when you make your self sound like a Incubus knockoff just because you see "Anne Molly" blowin up on the charts....I feel like I can call you in no uncertain terms...a sell out. Not that there was much to sell out in the first place.

Avoid this band like the plague they are, unless you want to find your self at show full of preps and jocks looking to mosh.

Sea Wolf has a video now, and he actually has an EP for sale now. You guys should go support him so that he can actually get out and tour the world. His music is to great to keep to your self. Praying for a Denver date!

I'm going to see the Horrors with fellow Blogger Luke , expect a review of that show when it goes down. I'm sure it will be nuts.

And by the way...are we the only 20 something Indy bloggers in Denver? I feel like we are the only ones....which is cool...but i need more friends....y'all should get on that

"This land is Your Land"-Featureing Anti-flag, Big D and The Night Watchman

Check this out

Im pretty sure Im sorry I missed this tour. It is live and it is great. The best part of the song is when Tom says that they didn't teach you these lyrics because they were scared you would wind up at an Anti-Flag show.

Here are the lyrics he is referencing.

Nobody living can ever stop me
As I go walking my freedom highway
Nobody living can make me turn back
This land is made for you and me.

In the squares of the city, In the shadow of a steeple;
By the relief office, I'd seen my people.
As they stood there hungry, I stood there asking,
Is this land made for you and me?

As I went walking, I saw a sign there;
And on the sign there, it said, 'NO TRESPASSING.'
But on the other side, it didn't say nothing.
That side was made for you and me.

RATM came back...incase you didnt know....

Rage hit southern L.A like they had never left last weekend and if you werent one of the lucky ~60,000 you have been waiting all week for some quality media to come at you.

Good news, the good stuff is being uploaded as we speek.

Go type Rage Against the Machine into Youtube and watch the videos flow in. There are over 300 with all diffrent shots and all diffrent sound qualitys. Some quality videos out there, if you are willing to wade through them.

Do the same thing for images and watch some pictures of Zach screaming into the mic.

Or best of all...go to vietnow.org and get your hands on the first six songs live from coachella. Yeah...they have that shit. Recorded from 100 yards away so the sound is alright, it's a great find except for their random convos from time to time.

Rage still sounds pissed, but I feel like the timming was slightly off at first (chaulk it up to nerves). Set list is a nice cross section, but where is "How i could just kill a man"? Thats the only thing they needed. We all knew they were going to do bulls and such but i like the wake up addition with the speech in the middle. That was made especialy intresting because apparently they didnt talk to much durring the set.

Apparently their is talk of a new album and a full out tour! oooohhh snap! Ill keep you updated, get the music.

"They dont gota burn the books, they just remove them"

Set list for the show(with the copys I got from vietnow.org for download)
Bombtrack
Bullet In The Head
Down Rodeo
Guerrilla Radio
Renegades Of Funk--->Is this the only time they ever played this song live?
Calm Like A Bomb
Sleep Now In The Fire
Freedom
Killing In The Name
